The Miami Heat have made a promising course correction since their decision to ship Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors this past season.

Following the completion of the 5-team blockbuster trade, the Heat came away with a number of valuable pieces that have proven to be conducive to winning, including 2022 All-Star and NBA champion forward Andrew Wiggins.

The agile and lengthy two-way wing contributed 19.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks in 17 appearances with the team to close the 2024-25 regular season. Even still, the 30-year-old forward was the subject of endless trade rumors.

Wiggins has been coveted by teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers in recent weeks due to his proven skill on both ends of the floor in high-stakes contests, but a recent statement from the Heat's legendary head coach Erik Spoelstra may have officially shut things down.

"Erik Spoelstra says Andrew Wiggins back in South Florida, is viewed as an ongoing component of the rotation," Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman shared via X on Saturday afternoon.

After an impressive first stint with the Heat, it appears as though Wiggins will remain a member of the team heading into the 2025-26 campaign.

With the Heat aiming to compete for a top spot in the Eastern Conference next season, keeping the experienced wing in the fold has its perks.

For a franchise predicated on gritty defense and hustle, the inclusion of Wiggins in the team's future plans could have huge benefits, specifically in certain postseason matchups against some of the best forwards the Eastern Conference has to offer.

During the 2022 NBA Finals as a member of the Warriors, Wiggins proved to be their best player outside of Stephen Curry due to his suffocating defense against Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum.
