Several Philadelphia Phillies commented on their pitchers being snubbed from the All-Star Game.
Several players on the Philadelphia Phillies, including Trea Turner, had choice words about Christopher Sanchez and Ranger Suárez not being selected as reserves for the All-Star Game.
Designated hitter Kyle Schwarber is the only Phillie who was elected to play in the All-Star Game and stated it’s unfortunate and he wishes his teammates were there.
Turner’s comments weren’t as mild as Schwarber’s.
“What a joke,” Turner said. “That’s f— terrible. I mean, that’s terrible, dude.”
The comments came after it was announced that Milwaukee Brewers rookie right-hander Jacob Misiorowski was named as Matthew Boyd’s replacement on the active roster.
The All-Star Game has turned into a popularity contest, and with so many notable snubs, it’s becoming increasingly obvious that the Game is losing its integrity.

“Yeah, 100 percent,” Turner told Matt Gelb about the All-Star honor being dampened. “I mean, it’s not the All-Star Game in the sense that the best players go there, or people who have had the best season. It’s whoever sells the most tickets or has been put on social media the most. That’s essentially what it’s turned into.”
Philadelphia players, staff and fans have a lot to be worked up about. Both Sanchez and Suárez have had incredible seasons thus far and while Suárez has only made 13 starts, he has more than doubled Misiorowski’s number of starts.
Nobody is saying Misiorowski doesn’t deserve some recognition for his dominance in five starts thus far, but allowing a pitcher to get in on five starts is embarrassing when there are way more deserving players.
Sanchez is 7-2 with a 2.59 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP in 18 starts and Suárez is 7-3 with a 1.94 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP with 11 of his 13 starts being quality.
