Liverpool inform asking price as Real Madrid express interest in key star

Liverpool have set their asking price as Real Madrid show interest in signing a Premier League star.

Xabi Alonso of Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s confidence took a heavy blow after their 4–0 collapse against PSG in the Club World Cup semifinals.

The loss exposed cracks too wide to ignore and has left manager Xabi Alonso demanding immediate defensive reinforcements.

The Spanish giants have already brought in 20-year-old Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth, but while he is promising, the club knows they cannot rely on youth alone in a season where trophies are expected.

William Saliba remains Alonso’s dream signing, but Arsenal have made it clear he is not for sale this summer, especially with talks ongoing over a contract extension that could keep him in North London until 2029.

That roadblock has forced Madrid to turn toward other solutions, and one name has quickly moved to the top of their shortlist as the pressure to rebuild grows stronger with every passing week.

Los Blancos have now focused their attention on Liverpool’s defense.

Liverpool tell transfer price of Real Madrid target

According to Fichajes, Liverpool have informed Real Madrid they will not sell Ibrahima Konate unless a bid of at least €50 million [$58m] is placed, a figure that reflects his growing status as one of the Premier League’s most reliable defenders since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021.

The French international has been key for Liverpool and remains central to Arne Slot’s plans moving forward, which is why the club is holding firm on their valuation.

However, Defensa Central reports that Real Madrid believe that price is far too high for a player with just one year left on his deal, and they are only prepared to offer €20–25 million [$23-29m] while considering waiting another year to sign him for free.
