Brewers Teammates React To Jacob Misiorowski's Shocking All Star Bid

One month ago, Jacob Misiorowski had not thrown a single pitch in the major leagues. On Friday night, he was named to MLB's All Star Game. Just five starts into his career, covering just 25.2 IP, Misiorowski has taken the league by storm with a blazing fastball, a goofy personality, and a 2.81 ERA with 33 strikeouts.

It's by far the fewest amount of games played by a player named to the All Star team. The next closest is another phenom, Paul Skenes, who made 11 starts prior to his nomination last year.

Pat Murphy made the announcement Friday night after the game, but told Misiorowski just minutes before the game against the Nationals began.

"We just told the ball club, so they're excited for him. He's kind of our version of Forrest Gump" Murphy said.

"He was tremendously genuine and he's very grateful, very thankful. And he understands this is the entertainment business and he's garnered so much attention that while only five starts, you still go to the All Star Game." he added.

Misiorowski was understandably emotional after getting the news.

In Misiorowski's last game on Tuesday, he obliterated the Dodgers lineup, striking out 12 batters in six innings of one run ball. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is also the manager of this year's NL All Star team, and he was clearly impressed with the youngster.

But more impressed are Misiorowski's teammates with what he's been able to do in such a short amount of time and earn this honor.

"That's awesome. I was fired up, I was really fired up for him. It is electric to watch. I'm excited for those guys. We get to see it from a dugout view like I've been able to and he's going to represent us really well." Quinn Priester said.

"Incredible. I think we all know he's worthy of it, the kid's stuff is unbelievable. It's fun to watch and like Murph said, it's super exciting and it's good for baseball and so we're all super happy for him" DL Hall said.

Misiorowski has taken the baseball world by storm in just five games and now he's taking the storm to Atlanta to represent the NL in the All Star Game. He was chosen to replace Matthew Boyd of the Cubs on the roster. His manager's reaction?

"I thought, you know, this is not going to be fair. Like this kid it's not the same way the other guys have to go out and pitch, whoever it might be. You look at a guy like [Abner] Uribe, you look at a guy like Brice Turang or Sal [Frelick] or so many other deserving people... but this is the entertainment business. This is what MLB wants. This is what people want to see. And the kid can't say no to that" Murphy said.

It's a great honor for the Brewers' Forrest Gump, who keeps on running up the radar gun and cultivating a larger and larger following. He'll catch even more eyes on Tuesday at the All Star Game.
