The Milwaukee Brewers have called back up 2024 breakout pitcher Tobias Myers. With renewed confidence and a new changeup, he's ready to be back.

Tobias Myers enjoyed a dream season in 2024, coming out of nowhere to be the breakout rotation arm for the Milwaukee Brewers, even earning the start in a winner-take-all Game 3 of the NL Wild Card series and going five shutout. The 2025 season, however, has been more of a nightmare.
Myers entered spring training virtually locked into a starting rotation job. Then, he suffered an oblique strain two weeks before spring training ended. Myers was placed on the IL and missed the first few weeks of the season. When he finally did return, he wasn't as sharp as he was the year before.
Manager Pat Murphy essentially benched Myers after two innings in his second start back and it was difficult for Myers to find consistency.
Myers was sent to Triple-A back in the middle of May as he lost his rotation spot after just five starts.
On Friday, the Brewers recalled Myers from Triple-A Nashville to take the spot of Aaron Ashby, who was placed on the paternity list. Back in the big leagues, Myers is feeling much better.
"Definitely feel a lot more comfortable with every pitch now than I did first then. Just the confidence, just like getting back out there consistently and doing it every week and seeing results and being able to work on things. It's been a good experience down there" Myers said.
Myers allowed 10 walks in his 20 innings of work in the majors earlier this season, a walk rate nearly double what he posted last season. The walks appear to be reined in, as he's allowed just 16 walks in 58.1 IP for Nashville.
Command wasn't the only thing Myers worked on improving while he was down there, he also tinkered with his changeup.
"Last week I started messing with a splitter, split-change. The action is going to be similar to the changeup, but the execution is kind of what we're shooting for with it." Myers said. "The confidence is there with it, so just keep going".
As for Myers' role with the Brewers, the starting rotation is currently full and practically bursting at the seams, but would he get the chance to start while he's up?
"We'll keep him stretched out in the long relief role and if he has to jump into it, he can." Murphy said.
Whatever role the Brewers ask him to pitch in, Myers is happy to be back in the majors with Milwaukee.
