Hansi Flick speaks out on future of transfer-linked Barcelona star

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Saturday provided an update on the future of midfield star Fermín López.

This, of course, comes amid the ongoing speculation surrounding the future of the 22-year-old ahead of the upcoming transfer deadline.

Premier League giants Chelsea are understood to be pushing hard for Fermín’s signature, having earmarked the Spanish international as the ideal addition to Enzo Maresca’s midfield ranks.

Fermín is for his part mulling over the move, with no official word on the rumours having yet been provided by Barcelona.

Speaking during his latest press conference on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Fermín’s future was quickly put to manager Hansi Flick.

And the German tactician appeared hopeful in his response, explaining:

“For the moment he is here. I have spoken to him and I think he will continue. I’ll be very happy when the market closes. I gave him my opinion, but I’ll keep it to myself. There are people who know more about what is happening. It’s a business, but I’m focused on my team. He has shown many times how important he is for us. He can help us a lot.”
