New York Yankees @ Chicago White Sox: Carlos Rodón vs. Yoendrys Gómez

The Yankees look for another win in a Friday night matchup against the White Sox.

The Yankees kept their winning streak going on Thursday night, as the offense put up another 10 spot in a win over the White Sox. Tonight, they’ll look to take the streak to six in a row as they continue their trip to Chicago.

For tonight’s game, Carlos Rodón will take the mound for the Yankees, facing off against the team that took him third overall in the 2014 draft, developed him and saw him struggle before finally coming into his own in 2021. In recent weeks, Rodón has mostly pitched well, he just often hasn’t been able to go deep into games. Since the All-Star break, he has only one appearance that’s been longer than six innings, even though he has a respectable 3.72 ERA in that time.

As for the rest of the lineup, Austin Wells is back in at catcher. That moves Ben Rice over to first base, in place of Paul Goldschmidt, who gets the day off.

As for the White Sox, former Yankee Yoendrys Gómez will take the ball for them. A longtime farmhand, Gómez even pitched for the Yankees this season, but was selected off waivers by the Dodgers, who then also waived him, with Chicago swooping in. He’s been pretty good since moving to Chicago, and this will be his fourth start of the season.
