The White Sox (48-86) are looking to rebound from a disappointing performance in the series opener. Once again, they are at home against the Yankees (74-60), who have won five consecutive games.

Yoendrys Gómez, 25, will start on the mound for the South Siders. Gómez enters tonight’s game with a 4.73 ERA and a 4.98 FIP in 32 1/3 MLB innings this season, resulting in 0.1 fWAR. 18 of those innings have been with the White Sox, and Gómez has been pretty sharp in that small sample, posting a 3.50 ERA and a 3.68 FIP. Gómez most recently pitched on August 24, when he delivered 4 2/3 shutout innings during an 8-0 victory over Minnesota (60-73).

Old friend Carlos Rodón, 32, will pitch for the Yankees. It is no surprise that Rodón is having a nice season, as he has posted a 3.24 ERA and a 3.87 FIP in 158 1/3 innings, resulting in 2.4 fWAR. Rodón delivered one shutout inning during this season’s All-Star Game. This will be Rodón’s second career start against the White Sox. In his first, Rodón pitched well, only allowing two runs on four hits in six innings on May 19, 2024.

Here are tonight’s starting lineups:

The first pitch is scheduled to happen at 6:40 p.m. Central. CHSN will show the game, and ESPN Chicago 1000 will have the radio coverage.
