Riverside (Pennsylvania) three-star defensive lineman Tavian Branch has decommitted from Rutgers and will reopen his recruitment, he announced on Friday afternoon.

He was pledged to the Seminoles since June 11th following an Official Visit to campus, where he chose the Scarlet Knights over the likes of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Penn State, and several others.

“I want to thank Rutgers and the entire staff for the opportunity. This process has taught me a lot. After talking with my family and coaches, I’ve decided to decommit and reopen my recruitment. No bridges burned. Much respect to Rutgers. I’m excited to explore every option,” Branch wrote on X announcing his decision.

With the news, Branch becomes the sixth prospect to decommit from Rutgers Football this recruiting cycle joining QB Gavin Sidwar (Missouri commit), offensive lineman Tyrell Simpson (Virginia Tech commit), linebacker Justin Edwards (Miami commit), linebacker Adam Shaw (Michigan State commit), and safety Rihyael Kelley (Alabama commit).

The Scarlet Knights recruiting class is now down to 20 total commits and is currently ranked No. 39 in the country for the 2026 recruiting cycle per the Rivals Industry rankings.
