The Cowboys have officially traded defensive end Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for at least two first-round draft picks.
The Dallas Cowboys have officially traded defensive end Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two first-round draft picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
Parsons will now head to Green Bay and sign a four-year contract worth $188 million, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
In exchange for Parsons, the Cowboys will receive two future first-round draft selections and Clark from the Packers.
The Cowboys will likely retain those first-round picks for use in future drafts, although a potential trade package could be developed to acquire another meaningful player in the future.
Meanwhile, Clark can step in and immediately fill a role along the defensive line for the Cowboys.
Dallas has struggled to stop opponents’ rushing attacks and create defensive pressure from the inside of the defensive line over the last few years, with Clark now having the chance to be one of the most important players for the Cowboys next season.
Clark has been an incredibly consistent defensive lineman for the Packers since entering the league in 2016, collecting 35 sacks and 416 total tackles across his nine seasons in the league.
Although he struggled at times last season, Clark could be in line for a bounce-back season following this trade.
Rapoport wrote on social media that the two sides have been working on a trade for some time, with the Packers negotiating a contract with Parsons behind closed doors to complete the
“The #Packers have quietly worked with Dallas on a deal for Micah Parsons for the last several days, agreeing to terms about two days ago. Since then, Green Bay has negotiated with Parsons’ agent on this blockbuster deal to shatter the market,” wrote the insider.
This trade marks the end of an ongoing saga between the Cowboys and Parsons, as the two sides were unable to agree on a contract extension.
The Cowboys will now enter the 2025 regular season with significant questions on the defensive side of the ball, having traded away one of the most important players on the entire roster.
Parsons has already proven to be one of the best defensive players in the league, collecting 52.5 sacks and 256 total tackles across his four seasons played.
Despite missing four games last season, Parsons managed to lead the Cowboys with 12 sacks and rank second on the team with two forced fumbles.
