Echoing Payton Pritchard, Neemias Queta unconcerned with if he starts for Boston Celtics

It is not just Pritchard who seems unworried over whether he will start.

It is not just Payton Pritchard who seems unworried over whether he will start for the Boston Celtics in what is likely a retooling season for the storied ball club. Fresh on the heels of Pritchard making it clear that starting for Boston next season was not a major concern for him, we are hearing from presumed starting Celtics center Neemias Queta a similar point of view regarding starting.

That the Portuguese big man took a public stance of this sort immediately after helping to power his national team to its first win in 18 years on the strength of a 23-point, 18-rebound, 4 blocks performance vs. Czechia made it all the more striking. "Right now, nothing is guaranteed—we’re just ready to go," said the man himself in response to being asked how he might approach a starting role with Boston next season via a postgame interview with Eurohoops.

"All the guys have been working their tail off this summer," he added. "When training camp comes, (Celtics head coach) Joe (Mazzulla) will make his decision."

Queta celebrates vs. Czechia

"I’m here to help and contribute," explained Queta to the assembled media. "Our team has been versatile for years and still will be."

"We’re all used to playing in different positions, whether starting or guarding multiple spots. It's a long season— 82 games—and you have to be malleable."
