As we head towards the final few days of the transfer market, Barcelona are expected to finalise the future of two of their academy graduates in Hector Fort and Jan Virgili.
While Fort is no longer seen as a viable first-team option for Hansi Flick, Virgili, who recently impressed at the iconic Maracana, is on the verge of joining Mallorca this summer.
But even in the midst of such uncertainty surrounding their Barcelona future, both of them, as well as teammate Andres Cuenca, have been called up for action.
Barcelona trio called up for U20 World Cup
Fort, Cuenca, and Virgili have all been included in Spain’s U-20 squad for their September training camp in Clairefontaine, France.
The camp will feature two friendlies against the French U-20 team – on September 4th and September 7th – serving as the final preparation ahead of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

Spain are set to kick off their World Cup campaign on September 28 against Morocco at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago, before facing Mexico (October 1) and Brazil (October 3) in what promises to be a challenging group stage.
It will be interesting to see how these three players, each facing a distinct situation, respond to the call-up.
As mentioned earlier, Virgili is already on his way out of Barcelona, while Fort, too, may leave the club in favour of a loan move elsewhere, incidentally to Mallorca as well.
Cuenca might be the only player still remaining at Barcelona, though the youngster will largely ply his trade with the second team.
Although their involvement in Chile won’t directly affect Barça’s first team, losing Cuenca in particular would be a blow for the reserves.
