The 2025 South Carolina football season is in full swing, with most teams having finished their season debuts. As the schedule continues, some of the state’s top squads will face each other in Week 2 of the current season. Here are the five biggest games from the Palmetto State this weekend.
No. 9 Ridge View at No. 1 Northwestern
When: Friday, Aug. 29, 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: Spartanburg Vikings Stadium, Spartanburg, S.C.
The Trojans dominated Spartanburg to open the 2025 South Carolina high school football season. The state’s top team will face Ridge View, a team also seeking its second victory in as many games. While the Blazers had a shutout victory over Fairfield Central, Northwesternis predicted to cruise to a 2-0 record.

No. 8 Spartanburg at No. 2 Dutch Fork
When: Friday, Aug. 29, 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: Dutch Fork Stadium, Irmo, S.C.
The Vikings are hoping to bounce back after opening the 2025 South Carolina high school football season with a 39-7 loss to Northwestern. Spartanburgcan earn its first victory this year by defeating the Silver Foxes on the road. Dutch Fork should have an emotional boost, though, as they open their schedule at home.

No. 5 Irmo at No. 7 Byrnes
When: Friday, Aug. 29, 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: Nixon Field at James F. Byrnes Stadium, Duncan, S.C.
The Yellow Jackets escaped with a 35-28 win over Oceanside Collegiate Academy in the season opener. Irmo’s 2025 South Carolina high school football season continues with another road game against Byrnes, which defeated T. L. Hanna in their season opener. This showdown could go down to the wire, but Irmomight have the extra gear to earn a hard-fought victory.
Massey prediction: Irmo 28, Byrnes 21
No. 6 South Florence at No. 10 Summerville
When: Friday, Aug. 29, 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: Summerville Football Stadium, Summerville, S.C.
The Green Wave survived Stratford’s challenge, earning a five-point victory. However, Summerville’s schedule early in the South Carolina high school football season doesn’t get any easier as they welcome South Florence. Entering this game, the state’s sixth-best team is brimming with confidence after a 37-6 season-opening victory over West Florence. This clash could go either way.

No. 16 Hillcrest at No. 32 Clover
When: Friday, Aug. 29, 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: Clover Memorial Stadium, Clover, S.C.
The Blue Eagles suffered a heartbreaking one-point loss to North Carolina’s Chambersto open their season. Clovercan erase that defeat by scoring a victory over Hillcrest, a team that is coming off a 56-17 win over Laurens. This battle could become the best game in Week 2 of the 2025 South Carolina high school football season.
