Lamar Best
St. Joseph (Montvale) senior quarterback
Best leads what could be New Jersey’s best big-play offense. The 6-foot, 185-pounder needs to stay healthy after missing several games last season with an injured collarbone. The dual-threat still threw for 1,149 yards and 13 TDs, and rushed for 399 yards and seven scores last season for the Green Knights (6-5). He's committed to Delaware.
Jalen Parker
Winslow junior quarterback
Parker established a program-record 2,917 passing yards and helped lead the Eagles to the Group 4 state title last season. The QB is 19-2 in 21 career games with Eagles, including a 14-0 run in 2024. Parker has thrown for 4,427 yards and 64 touchdowns in two seasons, putting him on pace to break the state TD passing record held by Timber Creek's Devin Leary since 2017.
Derek Zammit
DePaul senior quarterback
Zammit is a four-year starter who last season led the Spartans (11-1) to their second Non-Public B state title in three years and earned first-team All-New Jersey honors. The 6-1, 195-pounder is a pocket passer who can run when needed and last season threw for a North Jersey-best 2,582 yards and 34 TDs. He's committed to Washington.
Andrew Avent
Rahway senior running back
Avent shined as one of the best two-way players in the Big Central Conference last season, helping Rahway finish 7-3 after going 3-7 in 2023. He rushed for 1,412 yards and 16 touchdowns on 194 carries, and added 102 tackles (50 solo, 17 TFL) at linebacker.
Abdul Turay
St. Peter's Prep junior running back
Turay is the latest high-profile standout to transfer to one of North Jersey’s so-called “Big Six” powers. The 5-11, 180-pounder earned first-team All-New Jersey last season at St. John Vianney after leading the state in rushing yards (2,517) and touchdowns (37). A major Division I recruit, he had eight 200-yard rushing games last season.
Kellen Murray
Rumson-Fair Haven senior running back
Murray rushed for 1,581 yards and a school record 31 TDs last season. He had seven games in which he rushed for more than 100 yards, including 170 yards and three scores in the 26-24 win over Shabazz in the Group 2 state title game. He scored at least one TD in 12 games, including three games with four TDs and three with three TDs
Nate Bailey
St. Joseph (Montvale) senior wide receiver
Bailey is North Jersey’s most dangerous receiving-and-running combo threat and earned second-team All-New Jersey honors last season. The 5-8, 175-pounder will line up all over the field, and last season he caught 41 passes for 600 yards and five TDs and rushed for 583 yards and 10 scores. He's committed to Harvard.
Amari Sabb
Glassboro senior wide receiver
One of the most versatile players in South Jersey, Sabb is a terror for defenses whenever he has the football in his hands. The 5-9, 165-pound receiver posted more than 1,100 yards and 13 receiving touchdowns to go along with five more rushing scores last season for the Group 1 state champion Bulldogs. A four-year starter at cornerback, Sabb has many Division I offers.
Josiah Zayas
Piscataway senior wide receiver
Zayas produced a season full of highlight-film plays while at St. Thomas Aquinas in 2024. The Iowa State-commit caught 41 passes for 1,063 yards and 16 touchdowns. As a cornerback, he snagged seven interceptions and recovered a fumble for a score with 33 tackles (five TFL).
Brady Shust
St. Joseph (Montvale) tight end
Shust, at 6-5 and 235 pounds, is a physical presence who strengthens the Green Knights’ line and catches an occasional pass. He caught 12 passes for 160 yards and two scores last season, and his numbers should climb this season. He’s also a stellar punter, an all-county baseball player and committed to Wake Forest.
Adam Shaw
Pascack Valley senior athlete
Shaw might be North Jersey’s most-versatile athlete and last season led the Panthers (10-2) to the North 1, Group 3 sectional title. The 6-3, 205-pounder is a dual-threat quarterback who last season threw for 1,342 yards and 13 TDs, and ran for 1,021 yards and 15 scores. He’s also a coveted linebacker and committed to Michigan State.
Tommy Borgia
West Morris senior offensive lineman
The Princeton commit is recognized on the offensive end of the ball for helping the Wolfpack to 3,270 rushing yards and 38 rushing touchdowns last season. A state medalist on the wrestling mat, Borgia is also a disruptor on defense with 10 sacks in the 2024.
Marlen Bright
DePaul senior offensive lineman
Bright helped a massive offensive line pave the way for last year’s Spartans to win their second Non-Public B state title in three years, and he earned first-team All-North Jersey honors. The 6-6, 260-pounder is ranked as New Jersey’s No. 12 senior recruit by 247Sports and is committed to Penn State.
Jack Harris
Bergen Catholic senior offensive lineman
Harris spearheads the offensive line for a team ranked No. 1 in the preseason Super 25 and seekings a fifth consecutive Non-Public A state title. The 6-3, 300-pounder will be blocking for a ground-led attack that features senior running back Najee Calhoun and a new starting quarterback. He is committed to James Madison.
Philip Hatfield
Winslow senior offensive lineman
The 6-1, 280-pound lineman has been right in the middle of the action for the high-flying Eagles' offense as a three-year starter at center. He's a big reason Winslow was so successful on the ground, with close to 1,700 rushing yards, and was able to protect one of the state's top QBs in Jalen Parker.
Kai Pritchard
Donovan Catholic senior offensive lineman
A second-team All-New Jersey selection last season, Pritchard is commited to Illinois. He will lead what figures to be a resurgent Donovan Catholic team.
Nate Kashey
Mainland senior kicker
Kashey was Mr. Automatic for the Group 3 state finalist Mustangs last year. He booted all four of his field-goal attempts and converted 48 of 49 point-after attempts. The Penn commit is a four-year kicker at Mainland and his 71 extra points as a sophomore was the second highest total in South Jersey history.
