Germany forward Kai Havertz will miss the start of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers due to injury.

The Arsenal player won't be available to coach Julian Nagelsmann for matches against Slovakia (September 4) and Northern Ireland (September 7) after he suffered a knee injury in the Premier League season opener against Manchester United.

It's unclear, however, how long Havertz will be sidelined. Last season, he missed three months of football due to injury and, this year, he missed all four Germany matches so far.

Nagelsmann is to name his squad on Wednesday and also won't be able to rely on midfielder Jamal Musiala, goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and defender Nico Schlotterback - all of them strong candidates to the starting line-up.
