Monday, August 25

Girls Soccer

Southeast 8, Crestwood 0

Southeast’s Bailey Morris during a soccer match in Ravenna on Aug. 15.

The Pirates' defense notched a fourth straight shutout while Grace Wheeler impressed with four goals. Ari Fiorentino added two goals for Southeast (4-0-0) while Alexis Hurd and Destiny Longgood had a goal apiece. Sarah Craver tallied a team-high two assists while Bailey Morris had one as well.

Champion 5, Waterloo 1

The Vikings fell in their Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference opener despite a goal from Skyler Baldwin and despite out-pacing the Golden Flashes in corners (5-0). Koralee Jenior had an assist for Waterloo (1-1-1, 0-1-0) while Abigail Roberts finished with five saves.

Garfield 11, Harvey 0

The G-Men picked up their third win of the season, already matching their combined total from the past two years. Kaelyn Tasker led the way for Garfield with her first career hat trick.

Volleyball

Badger def. Windham, 25-14, 25-17, 23-25, 25-23

The Bombers fell despite Kyleigh Simpson's strong day from the service line as she tallied 12 service points, including six aces. Brielle Jones (seven kills) and Kierrah Sanders (11 digs) also had strong performances for Windham.

Girls Golf

Roosevelt 167, Streetsboro 212

The Rough Riders won the Battle of Diagonal Road behind an incredibly balanced effort. All six Roosevelt golfers finished between a 41 and a 44: Brooke Beatty (41), Makenna Ward (42), Adrianna Mineo (42), Coco Golden (42), Kaila Kovolyan (43) and Kate Ennemoser (44).

Claire Campbell (50) and Emma Chamberlain (51) led Streetsboro.

Rootstown 184, Berkshire 219

The Rovers won behind a pair of 44s (from Chloe Gardner and Morgan Giebel) and a pair of 48s (from Anna Drago and Ava Miller).

Hayden Tomsic led the Badgers with a 48.

Southeast 170, Mineral Ridge 218

Senior Aubree Varga had a season-best 39 while Sammy Morgan (41), Jenni Mix (42) and Emily Morrison (48) rounded out the scoring for another Pirates' victory.

Boys Golf

Waterloo 173, Sebring McKinley 252

Trevor Flarida helped the Vikings pick up their second win of the season, earning medalist honors with his 39. Mason Long (42), Grayson Griffin (44) and Jayden Eichler (48) rounded out the scoring for Waterloo (2-10, 2-7 MVAC).

Rootstown 181, Harvey 207

Nathan Waesch earned medalist honors with a 40 as the Rovers moved to 4-4 (2-2 Chagrin Valley Conference). Sam Klem, Liam Miller and Caleb Stevens rounded out the scoring for Rootstown, with all three carding a 47.

Girls Tennis

Revere 4, Aurora 1

The Greenmen fell despite sophomore Logan Archibald's straight-set win at third singles.
