With the 17th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings selected former Alabama Crimson Tide star linebacker Dallas Turner. Just one year after signing a four-year, $15 million deal, the 22-year-old finds himself the victim of a bank fraud scheme.

On Tuesday, The Minnesota Star Tribune reported that scammers took $240 thousand from Turner at the JPMorgan Chase branch in Eagan, Minnesota, following a scam call.

The scam, as presented in a search warrant affidavit, indicates that an individual impersonating a JPMorgan Chase employee contacted the former Alabama star. The individual claimed that another person was attempting to access Turner's bank account with two forms of identification. The scheme ended when Turner wired money to two separate accounts to halt the proposed, and ultimately made-up, robbery.

Turner played in 16 games for the Minnesota Vikings last season, accumulating 20 tackles, three tackles for loss, and three sacks. His best game of the season came in the season opener against the New York Giants, tallying three solo tackles, a sack, and a quarterback hurry. He added another tackle in the team's lone playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams.

A five-star mega prospect in the 2021 class per 247Sports, Turner played three seasons in Tuscaloosa. The 6-foot-4 edge rusher hit the ground running, collecting 8.5 sacks as a true freshman. Following an up-and-down sophomore season, Turner erupted in 2023, posting an SEC-best ten sacks. He also added 53 tackles and 15 tackles for loss while earning All-American and SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors.
