Rio Ferdinand hits out at Man Utd for lack of action on Bryan Mbeumo deal

Rio Ferdinand has had his say on Manchester United's failure to seal a deal.

Manchester United have made one big signing this summer, with Matheus Cunha already securing his deal.

The club is attempting to sign Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, but talks have been prolonged, as Brentford have rejected multiple bids for the player.

Now, ex-Man United player Rio Ferdinand has given his verdict on United's process in trying to cement the Cameroonian's deal.

What did Ferdinand have to say about his former club?

On his show Rio Ferdinand Presents, the former defender said, "Man United need to find a way of meeting Brentford's valuation. The proposal doesn't seem to be enough for Brentford, but Manchester United need to get this done."

The deal for Mbeumo has continued for weeks, with United dragging their heels on meeting Brentford's asking price.

Ferdinand continued, "It's been in the news for far too long, to get to a situation to get to the end of the window, and it doesn't happen, I think that will be an egg-on-the-face situation for Man United unless they go and get someone else.

"Who have they got waiting in the wings as an alternative? We haven't heard any names that are close."

United have been linked to several players, but there are no concrete talks in place to sign an alternative to Mbeumo.

Ferdinand repeated his stance on the Cameroonian, though, and said, "I will repeat myself. He fits the bill for me physically. He is dynamic, scores goals in the Premier League, knows the Premier League."
