Crystal Palace have made an approach to sign Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid on an initial loan deal.
Oliver Glasner is seeking a new midfield signing following the £68m transfer of Eberechi Eze to Arsenal last week.
Initial talks over a deal to re-sign Gallagher have now started, according to journalist Bobby Manzi.
Gallagher joined Atletico Madrid from Chelsea in a deal worth around £34m, but struggled to cement an automatic role in Diego Simeone’s side. He started 19 La Liga games for the Spanish side during his debut campaign.
Gallagher will be keen to secure regular minutes as he looks to make the England squad for next summer’s World Cup.
Palace are hopeful of sealing an ambitious move to bring Gallagher back to Selhurst Park, after an impressive loan spell with the club in 2021/22. The 25-year-old scored eight goals in 34 Premier League appearances for Palace, earning the Eagles’ Player of the Year award.
