The Boston Celtics may not be ready to deal their star guard to a new franchise.

The Boston Celtics conducted an overhaul this past summer to avoid future financial restrictions, but one of their recent trade acquisitions, Anfernee Simons, has been floated as an asset that the franchise is aiming to flip once more.

The Ex-Portland Trail Blazers guard was shipped to the Celtics in exchange for 2-time NBA champion Jrue Holiday on July 7.

In the aftermath of Boston's exciting move, a new update from HoopsWire's Sam Amico on Sunday indicated that the 26-year-old had already fielded trade interest from the 2023 NBA champion Denver Nuggets.

However, this claim was quickly refuted by ClutchPoints' NBA insider Brett Siegel, as he pointed out several factors that would prevent Denver from pulling off a transaction of this nature.

"The Nuggets just cleared money this offseason for a reason and would need to trade Cam Johnson or Aaron Gordon," Siegel shared via Twitter/X on Sunday afternoon.

"That’s not happening."

Denver would surely be a fun destination for the explosive 26-year-old scoring threat, though their previous offseason dealings have effectively locked the team into their current roster.

In order to complete a trade for Simons with Boston, the Nuggets would have to relinquish their Swiss army knife forward Aaron Gordon or their newly-acquired 3-and-D wing Cam Johnson, two scenarios that appear extremely unlikely.

For now, it looks as though Boston will hang onto Simons prior to the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign.

In 70 appearances for the Trail Blazers in 2024-25, the versatile offensive weapon averaged 19.3 points, 4.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds while knocking down 36.3% of his 8.5 three-point attempts.

Simons' masterful ball-handling and proven ability to knock down three-pointers at a high volume are attractive qualities that the Celtics could benefit from this upcoming season.
