The Detroit Tigers are back in action Friday after a day off on Thursday, hosting the Kansas City Royals in a game on Apple TV+ only.
After a disastrous stretch before and after the All-Star break, the Detroit Tigers are back on track.
The Tigers enter Friday night's game against the Kansas City Royals having won 10 of their last 13 games, including a massive sweep of the Houston Astros in the three games before the series against the Royals.
Their recent strong stretch has helped build back their lead in the AL Central to a comfortable margin, but that doesn't mean the Tigers can take their foot off the gas.
The Royals have sneakily passed the Cleveland Guardians in the division standings and are now in second place, sitting 9½ games behind the Tigers in the Central. That means Friday is the start of a massive opportunity for the Royals to make some noise and maybe put a little pressure on them down the stretch.
Friday's series-opening game at Comerica Park is only available to watch via streaming on Apple TV+ and will not air on FanDuel Sports Detroit like the majority of the Tigers' games.

Tigers vs Royals pitching matchup
The Tigers will have All-Star Casey Mize on the mound Friday to begin the series to Royals righty Ryan Bergert.
Mize is 12-4 with a 3.63 ERA over 111⅔ innings this year while Bergert has made 14 appearances with 10 of those being starts and has posted a 1-1 record with an impressive 2.75 ERA.
