WNBA stars shared reactions to big news.
The Atlanta Dream have positioned themselves as one of the toughest teams in the league this season, holding a 22-12 record and sitting atop the Eastern Conference. Allisha Gray has led the way with 18.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, earning Player of the Month honors and several Player of the Week awards for her standout performances. Guard Rhyne Howard’s return in August has only strengthened the lineup, making the Dream’s case as title contenders even stronger.
Within this successful campaign, the team has found more reasons to celebrate beyond basketball, thanks to fourth-year guard Maya Caldwell.
Maya Caldwell’s Wedding Photos Sparks Joyous Reactions
Caldwell recently announced via Instagram that she has tied the knot with Zach Ellwanger, posting photos from her Aug. 8 wedding alongside the caption:
“Sneak Peek 🥰👀 ✨8•8•25 ✨.”
The post was immediately met with a wave of love and support from across the WNBA.
“🥹❤️🔐 crying real tears,” the Atlanta Dream’s official social media handle remarked.

“😍😍congrats maya!” added Fever guard Sydney Colson.
"😍😍😍😍 congrats!!!" said Tasha Cloud.
Drafted in the third round (33rd overall) of the 2021 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever, Caldwell has fought to carve out a role in the league. After spending time overseas and facing roster cuts, she earned a place with the Atlanta Dream, re-signing with the team in June 2024.
Known as a versatile 5-foot-11 guard, Caldwell contributes on both ends of the floor, providing three-point shooting and reliable defensive presence for a team with championship aspirations. Featuring in all of Atlanta’s games this season, she is currently averaging 4.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.
Atlanta Dream Remain Strong Contenders for the WNBA Title
The Dream, second in the WNBA, are having one of their most memorable regular seasons to date. With eight wins in its last ten games, Atlanta remains firmly in the playoff picture, and remains one of the league’s most balanced squads.
The team has never captured a WNBA championship, but their current form suggests a breakthrough may be possible. Gray’s MVP-level production, coupled with Howard’s return to the lineup and steady contributions from players like Caldwell, has given Atlanta the depth to compete with any contender.
With the postseason around the corner, the Dream are seeking not just another playoff berth but a deep run that could mark the franchise’s defining moment.
