Phillies fans rejoice, Jhoan Duran closer entrance to be broadcast by NBC Sports Philly

New Phillies closer Jhoan Duran's entrance as he walks to the mound is all the rage. Now Phils fans will get to see it during the broadcast.

If you've been to a Phillies game since the MLB Trade Deadline, then you've probably seen newly acquired closer Jhoan Duran's electric entrance onto the mound.

Duran's walk-on routine is all the rage among Phils fans, who have gone nuts over the entrance since the pitcher was acquired from the Minnesota Twins on July 30.

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jhoan Duran takes the field to pitch the ninth inning against the Detroit Tigers at Citizens Bank Park.

But what about the fans watching from home? Recently, fans complained after the network recently showed highlights of Duran’s entrance obscured by ads placed on the screen.

Well, NBC Sports Philadelphia said they now have a solution for that.

According to a report by Philadelphia Inquirer's Rob Tornoe, the network said in a statement that it plans begin showing Duran’s full walk-up routine for evening home games live for the rest of the season. This will start Aug. 22 when the Phillies begin a three-game series against Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park.

“We’ve heard from passionate Phillies fans across the region,” the network acknowledged in a statement, noting fans will now “get to experience this phenomenon live and in its entirety.”

However, NBC Sports did not specify the solution in its statement about the broadcast.

Jhoan Duran closer entrance at CBP

After being acquired from Minnesota, Duran brought his entrance that was a fan favorite among Twins fans and quickly gained attention in Philly.

As Duran makes his way from the bullpen to the mound in the ninth, the lights go dark and fans begin to wave their phone flashlights in the air. Then a remix of “El Incomprendido” by Farruko and “Hot” by Pitbull and Daddy Yankee blast over the CBP PA system while screens in the outfield show a giant tarantula in reference to his “Durantula” nickname which was coined by a Twins' staffer.

During his short time in Philly, Duran has saved six games including three at The Bank to the delight of fans who have gushed over the closer who routinely pumps in fastballs at over 100 MPH.
