Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel has been one of the most vocal critics of Nicolas Jackson during the latter’s time at Stamford Bridge.
Mikel has called out the Senegal striker on numerous occasions following disappointing performances for the Blues and has never minced his words about the player.
Meanwhile, Jackson has been inconsistent for Chelsea over the last two years, failing to secure a regular starting position in Enzo Maresca’s eleven.
Most recently, Mikel launched a scathing attack on Jackson during the Club World Cup after he was sent off against Flamengo and failed to return to the starting side after that game.
Now, Maresca has all but confirmed that Jackson is on the verge of leaving the club and won’t feature for his team again.
Ahead of Jackson’s possible departure from the club, Mikel seems to have changed his opinion on the player.

John Obi Mikel changes his stance on Nicolas Jackson
Despite frequently describing the Senegal international as not good enough to start for Chelsea, it seems that Mikel has had a change of heart upon the news of his imminent departure.
He now believes that he still thinks the forward has a part to play in Chelsea’s upcoming season.
He said: “I hope he stays because I still think he has a massive part to play this season. He’s a fantastic player, the qualities and what he brings to this football club. I think we need that.”
As far as possible destinations for Jackson are concerned, Aston Villa are keen on reuniting the player with his former manager, Unai Emery.
Newcastle United are also said to be interested in the striker after missing out on a number of their top transfer targets this summer.
