Liverpool are backing one wonderkid fully as they prepare to sell a rival for his spot. The Reds have made their choice.

Liverpool are all-in on Rio Ngumoha as their future on the left. The teenager is one of the biggest prospects in English football right now.

Of course, he was that a year ago when the Reds snatched him from Chelsea. That was seen as a gigantic blow for the Blues, who viewed Ngumoha as the jewel of their academy.

But Ngumoha will be wearing Red for the foreseeable future. He was certainly wearing it in pre-season where the 17-year-old was one of the most exciting Liverpool players.

Ngumoha scored a sensational goal against Athletic Bilbao as the highlight of his summer. It’s sparked an understanding that he’s probably just about ready for more senior football, despite his age.

And with that, Liverpool are ready to move on a rival for his spot.

Lewis Koumas to leave

Lewis Koumas looks likely to leave Liverpool in the next week or so. Both Birmingham and Wrexham are interested in buying the player, among other clubs.

Koumas, of course, broke into senior football in Jurgen Klopp's final season. He scored on his debut for the Reds, too, with an FA Cup goal against Southampton.

His rapid rise saw a loan deal at Stoke City last season - and a decent one. Koumas started the campaign very brightly and while he struggled more over the second half of the season, it appears he's ready for regular senior football.

That, however, won't be at Liverpool. The younger Ngumoha is now seen as the future on the left, with no room for Koumas, per the Liverpool Echo. It means he barely featured across pre-season and now a transfer looks certain.

And he deserves a good one. Koumas is a genuine talent, with a fee expected to climb above Β£10m despite never playing in the league for Liverpool.

But as with everyone at a top club, a bigger talent is always right around the corner unless you're truly one of the world's best. Liverpool are going to invest in Ngumoha for now - but we're sure Koumas will land on his feet and go on to be a top player.
