Michigan’s captains are graduate tight end/fullback Max Bredeson, graduate safety Rod Moore, graduate offensive lineman Giovanni El-Hadi, senior linebacker Ernest Hausmann, senior EDGE Derrick Moore and senior tight end Marlin Klein.
Bredeson and Moore are both returning captains, having been elected ahead of the 2024 season. Last season, they served in the role along with running back Donovan Edwards, defensive back Makari Paige and EDGE Josaiah Stewart, all of whom are on NFL rosters.
“Rod Moore gave a great positive injury update today, as well, saying he’s going through all the drills, he’s practicing fully,” Sayfie noted. “I know Anthony, you wrote about that.
“And you also wrote about Max Bredeson … one of the coolest things I’ve heard all of fall camp is that he requested to room with Bryce Underwood, the freshman quarterback, and said, ‘I didn’t really know what I wanted to get out of it, but I knew it could help the team.’ And a lot of Michigan fans reacted positively online to that because there’s no guy you’d rather have rooming with Bryce Underwood, to teach him what Michigan is all about and help him with the offense and what all the habits that you need to have are.”
“All of it’s good,” Balas said. “I wondered if there were going to be more than four, fellas, because there were just so many good candidates. You look at it, and the two that stand out that kind of surprised me — Marlin Klein, even though he’s been around a long time. He hasn’t had a huge role here, and I wasn’t quite sure how vocal he was. In fact, I said if there was a third [on offense], it might’ve been Davis Warren, given what he’s given to the program. Of course, he’s kinda out of the loop rehabbing and things like that, but so is Rod Moore. Rod Moore was an obvious one.
“And then with Derrick Moore — that’s huge. That just shows how far he’s come from his freshman year.”
