Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide are leading the charge for four-star edge rusher KJ Green.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are aiming to secure the edges, in 2027 and beyond. Kalen DeBoer’s program has caught the attention of at least one elite player at edge rusher in Class of 2027 four-star KJ Green.
“Alabama is winning it for me right now,” Green said recently. “The way they’ve recruited me and shown love — they took over that No. 1 spot.”
According to 247Sports, DeBoer’s program has been one of the best in the country when it comes to wooing top talent. The Crimson Tide chalked up the No. 2 overall class in 2024, which included four-star edge rushers Noah Carter and Jayshawn Ross. Alabama also brought in four-star Justin Hill at the position in their 2025 group, tabbed No. 3 overall.
Green, who plays at Stephenson High School (Ga.), is tabbed as the No. 13 edge rusher in 2027, per 247Sports’ composite rankings. The top player at that position, LaDamion Guyton, committed to Texas Tech earlier this month and is rated No. 2 overall nationally. Alabama had been in on Guyton’s recruitment, but lost out along with Florida State, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.
The Crimson Tide currently have two four-star commitments in the 2027 class, in-state edge rusher Jabarrius Garror and receiver Alexander Ward. DeBoer and his staff have also extended offers to edge rushers DJ Jacobs, Zyron Forstall, Anthony Sweeney, Chris Whitehead, Derwin Fields, James Pace III and Ba’Roc Willis. All are considered four-stars.
DeBoer will aim to continue to build up his defensive front, a unit required for success in the SEC.
