A few hours after Iowa State departed for Ireland to continue preparations for Saturday’s Aer Lingus Classic against Kansas State, the first injury availability report was released for both teams, and it showed at least one starter out for Matt Campbell‘s squad.
Expected to be the number-one left guard, redshirt sophomore Trevor Buhr was listed as out. The Missouri native started six of the 13 games he played in 2024, including the final two regular season contests and Big 12 Championship Game and Pop-Tarts Bowl.
Without the services of the 6-foot-4, 315-pound offensive lineman, the Cyclones could easily turn to Garret Rutledge, who’s listed as the backup left guard . However, the most likely scenario is that Jim Bonifas will get the nod at center while returning starters Brendan Black and Dylan Barrett are first-team guards.
Others in Iowa State’s depth chart listed in Wednesday’s eligibility report include outside linebacker Beau Goodwin and defensive lineman Alijah Carnell, who are questionable.
