Decorated slugger Aaron Judge missed almost two weeks with an elbow injury spanning from July to August, but both he and the New York Yankees are now in a better place. The two-time AL MVP returned on August 5 and has been the Yankees' designated hitter since then, before he eventually goes back to the outfield.

Judge came into Saturday's bout with the St. Louis Cardinals slashing just .172/.351/.276 with one homer and four RBI over nine games in August, but he reached base in seven of those contests. Furthermore, the 33-year-old made personal history with his solo homer in the third inning on Saturday, via The New York Post's Greg Joyce.

Judge has now homered against all 29 opposing MLB teams in his career. New York drafted the California native No. 32 overall in 2013, and he made his big-league debut in August 2016.

Judge also hit an RBI double in the first inning, so the homer clinched his first multi-hit game since his injury return.

Yankees Need Aaron Judge in Close Playoff Race

Although New York entered Saturday's game with the second-highest runs scored in the AL, the lineup isn't the same without its star. Judge came into the contest leading baseball with a .330 batting average and a 1.121 OPS. He was also fourth with 38 homers and was tied for sixth with 89 RBI. Saturday's home run was his 39th of the year.

With the Yankees just 1.5 games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians for the AL's third and final Wild Card spot entering Saturday, they can't afford for Judge to miss any more time at the plate. Injuries can sometimes come down to luck, so they'll have to knock on wood the rest of the way.
