After lengthy negotiations, the Bulls are predicted to land Josh Giddey.
Bulls' Josh Giddey gets $96 million prediction amid contract negotiations originally appeared on The Sporting News
Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey is one of numerous restricted free agents looking to sign new deals ahead of the 2024-25 season.
And as things currently stand, an agreement between both player and team are not very close. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Bulls' most recent offer to Giddey was a four-year, $80 million contract; Giddey, meanwhile, wants to be compensated closer to $30 million each year.
Other NBA teams — most notably, the Golden State Warriors — have looked into signing Giddey at different points in the offseason, but that interest has since waned, leaving the Bulls to be his most likely option.
How much is Giddey predicted to sign for?
Bleacher Report's Dan Favale believes that some concession will be made between the two parties, with a projected $24 million average annual value serving as a middle-ground between each of their preferences. Favale predicts that Giddey will ultimately sign a four-year, $96 million deal with the Bulls that includes a player option on the final season.
"The 22-year-old does not have another suitor dangling the money he wants. We'd have heard about it by now. While that gives the Bulls a ton of leverage, they're not about to squeeze their young floor general to the point he signs his qualifying offer and heads into unrestricted free agency next summer," Favale wrote. "Bet on this ending with a four-year deal that sees Chicago come up a little bit and Giddey moving off his initial ask in exchange for flexibility at the end of the contract."
In this scenario, Giddey would return to a Bulls team that finished the 2024-25 campaign with a 39-43 record and participated in the NBA Play-In Tournament for the third time in as many years. They have made the playoffs outright only once in the past eight seasons.
