Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman reported Tuesday that the Florida Gators and LSU Tigers are the teams to watch in elite Class of 2027 receiver Easton Royal’s recruitment. The 247Sports five-star later made sure to mention Steve Sarkisian’s Texas Longhorns have impressed him, as well.

“Watch out for Texas as well they are starting to make a strong case for themselves,” Royal wrote Tuesday on X, quoting a Rivals post and adding a pair of eyes emojis and three question marks.

Royal, who’s entering his junior year at New Orleans’ Brother Martin High School, racked up 1,149 all-purpose yards and 14 total touchdowns last season. He’s also displayed his straight-away speed on the track, as well, running a 10.38-second 100-meter dash this past go-round.

Three-star wideouts Chris Stewart and Kohen Brown will arrive in Austin as part of the 2026 class. Royal is one of 16 receivers the Longhorns have offered in the following one. Rated No. 3 at his position in the 247Sports composite rankings, he’s the highest-regarded out of that group.

Billy Napier’s Florida program has yet to offer Royal, who has been offered by a half-dozen SEC teams. Sherrone Moore’s Michigan Wolverines and Mario Cristobal’s Miami Hurricanes are also in the mix.

Texas has had four receivers drafted over the past two years. Matthew Golden went in the first round of this year’s event, while Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell were respectively selected in the first and second rounds last year. Jordan Whittington later went in the sixth round.
