Monday, August 18

Boys Soccer

Crestwood 6, Waterloo 1

Knotted at the half, the Red Devils erupted for five goals in the second half to open the season with a victory. Brothers AJ and Gio Brock connected on the game-winning goal with Gio, a junior, slotting a pass up the right side to AJ, a senior, who ripped a shot to the left side of the net. Senior Kyle Shelhamer erupted shortly thereafter, scoring three of the last four goals of the game to record a hat trick.

Rootstown 8, LaBrae 0

Zach Pastor had a hat trick and an assist to boot as the Rovers rolled to an impressive victory. Bryson Scarlett added a goal and an assist for Rootstown (1-0-0), which had six scorers.

Girls Soccer

Waterloo 9, Crestwood 0

Vikings freshman Jewel Janda put the Vikings in front with her first career goal and sophomore Koralee Jenior struck on a penalty kick in the 10th minute. After firing an array of shots over and around the net for the duration of the opening half, Waterloo (1-0-1) exploded for seven goals in the second stanza. That included two more goals for Jenior as she secured a hat trick and Johanna King's first career goal.

Boys Golf

Streetsboro 173, Canfield 188

The Rockets moved to 7-1 with a convincing nonleague win. Brett Epple (42), Dom Marcini (42) and Evan Reger (43) all finished within a stroke of one another to lead Streetsboro to victory.

Jackson-Milton 185, Waterloo 200

The Vikings fell despite sub-50 rounds from Trevor Flarida (46), Jayden Eichler (48) and Mason Long (49). The Bluejays' Colton Elliott earned medalist honors with a 39.

Girls Golf

Southeast 165, Springfield 183, Garfield 215

The Pirates moved to 4-0 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference, led by Sammy Morgan's 35. In addition to Morgan earning medalist honors, Southeast got strong rounds from Jessi Mix (41), Aubree Varga (44), Emily Morrison (45) and Jenni Mix (46).

Addison Snyder led the G-Men with a 45.
