With Denis Vavro indefinitely unavailable, and Moritz Jenz pushing for a move elsewhere, VfL Wolfsburg are now looking at alternate options for an RCB that can play alongside Konstantinos Koulierakis. The club has now turned to Argentina, beginning talks with CA Independiente for 23-year-old centre-back Kevin Lomónaco, as Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg reports.
Nothing else is known at this point, as discussions are in the preliminary stages and have not advanced to a second phase just yet. Lomónaco is currently worth €12 million - there would be a transfer fee involved, since his current contract with Independiente, on loan from Brazilian side Red Bull Bragantino, lasts until the end of the 2027 season.
Lomónaco is a regular starter at Independiente, making 23 appearances in the 2025 Liga Profesional season, but currently without a goal or assist. In the 2024 season, he played 18 matches but managed to score twice (in back-to-back matches against Estudiantes de La Plata and Rosario Central in August).
