A former youth baseball star has died suddenly at 14 years old over the weekend.

The Caribbean Series announced on Monday afternoon, August 18, that a former youth baseball standout died suddenly. Gustavo Talmaré, 14, passed away suddenly over the weekend. He was a former youth baseball star and a current prospect out of the Dominican Republic.

"The Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CBPC) deeply regrets the passing of the young Dominican prospect Gustavo Talmaré (14 years old), a standout figure in the I Caribbean Kids Series Panama 2024," the announcement stated.

"Talmaré distinguished himself as the leader in home runs (4) and RBIs (10), as well as co-leader in hits (8). In 2023, he was chosen as the most outstanding Dominican player in the U-12 World Championship, confirming his great potential in baseball."

Talmare was a standout contributor for the Caribbean Kids Series Panama in 2024. Tributes are now pouring in for him on social media.

Fans are deeply saddened by the passing of the former youth baseball star on social media.

"Much strength and courage to his family and loved ones in this very sad and difficult time they are going through," one fan wrote.
