The Texas Rangers currently own a 61–61 record, sitting 3.5 games back of the third wild-card spot in the American League. The Rangers are looking to reach the postseason for the first time since their 2023 World Series win, and this time, they’ve leaned on key deadline acquisitions to help fuel the push.

The Rangers offense has been led by Corey Seager since his arrival in 2022, and he’s cemented himself as the face of the franchise.

The 31-year-old left-handed slugger has made three consecutive All-Star appearances to open his tenure with the team and won the World Series MVP in 2023. Seager has posted a .260 batting average, .826 OPS, 17 home runs, and 43 RBIs across 89 games in 2025.

Rangers Move Corey Seager to Third in Lineup Ahead of Blue Jays Series

Ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays, manager Bruce Bochy made a noticeable change to the lineup.

For just the second time all season, Seager was moved down in the order to third in place of teammate Marcus Semien. Wyatt Langford made the jump to second in the order as the Rangers attempt to get more at-bats for the more productive pieces of their lineup.

Rangers Need Seager to Step Up Down the Stretch for October Return

The move to drop Seager in the order is mostly indicative of his second-half struggles, as he’s posted just a .208 batting average and .650 OPS since the All-Star break.

Although the bigger concern is Semien, who has not produced all season and continues to lose opportunities at the plate.

With the crucial stretch coming in the final two months of the season, the Rangers’ playoff hopes will remain solely on the offense’s ability to produce runs.
